Now he and his brother Erik have opened pizza restaurant Wood in Silver Lake. 

The brothers have owned the Sunset franchise of Big Mama's & Papa's for eight years but have long dreamed of their own Neapolitan-style pizza restaurant.

The Martirosyan brothers were always hands-on, according to Erik, passing out fliers, baking and delivering pizzas and managing the store. Before opening Wood, he says, they researched every facet of Italian pizza making.

"We even have a mixer from Italy for the dough we make daily," Erik says. "We wanted the right ingredients, the right products -- all shipped from Italy."
