Fear of stars and anticipating customer judgement: Petra's initiative at Identità Milano 2023


Among the lectures at Università della Pizza there is a particularly interesting one held by Vittorio Munari, a great rugby coach and for years an excellent and witty sports reporter...

His lesson tackles, among others, the theme of alibis: those mechanisms we put in place to justify to others and to ourselves mistakes that we should instead address and resolve consciously. Munari's lesson concerns us all and his examples are drawn from life and work experiences that we have somehow all experienced. It almost seems as if the dynamic of alibis is inherent in us human beings and represents one of the most powerful restraints to us achieving success.

Personal and professional success that is. And the topic is certainly very current in a world where others’ opinion of our work (and often also our actions in private life) manifests itself continuously and through intuitive instruments of judgement that are available to everyone, always and everywhere.

Suffice it to think of the familiar yellow stars visible in the most widely used digital platforms, the expression of a judgement that is the average of judgements expressed over time, without distinction of merit between those who have expressed them with competence and sincerity and those who have not; a business card for those who find us for the first time in web searches that is continually updated and tends downward. In a pizzeria capable of reading the market in a contemporary key, it is important to know the judgement of its customers before they express it online. But how do you collect product and service evaluations before they appear indelibly on the Internet?

An example can be experienced in the Petra space at Sigep in Rimini (Hall D5 stand 29) and, a few days later, at Identità Milano 2023 where our guests will be invited to express their judgement digitally by interacting directly with a hybrid version of the workwear of our technicians and collaborators, thus gaining a direct experience of how easy and quick it is to collect "hot" anonymous useful evaluations to be transformed into useful suggestions for improving products and service.
