Eataly LA To Host Prestigious Culinary Forum For First West Coast Edition

The globally renowned culinary forum known as Identità Golose will be held for the first time ever in Los Angeles when world-famous chefs descend upon Eataly LA in October.

Founded in 2004 by Italian food journalist Paolo Marchi to highlight the very best of contemporary Italian cuisine, Identità Golose brings together international chefs, artisanal producers and gourmands each year. Although the first edition was held in Italy, it didn’t take long for the event series to expand to England and the United States.

Beginning with the first stateside event in 2010, the U.S. edition of the series has been held every year since then at Eataly NYC Flatiron. However, this year, following the New York dates (October 1-3), Eataly LA will also host Identità Golose events October 5-6, at its Westfield Century City outpost. This will now afford Los Angeles residents the same opportunity to mingle with and learn from some of the world’s finest chefs specializing in Italian cuisine.

The theme for 2018’s series of events will be “The Human Factor.” Throughout the ages, food is something that has played a natural role in bringing people closer together and the forum’s organizers chose this theme to encourage the nourishing of person-to-person relationships and the fostering of environments that welcome discussion.

Across the two days in Los Angeles, chefs Massimo Bottura, Carlo Cracco, Corrado Assenza, Franco Pepe and Marco Stabile will lead intimate seminars (capped at 20 guests per seminar) in which they no doubt do their best to see that the human factor is represented.

Notably, Italian restaurateur and chef Bottura is the talent behind the three-Michelin-starred Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy a restaurant consistently ranked among the best restaurants in the world by critics and guides. And chef Assenza was featured on season four of Chef’s Table on Netflix.

Cracco and Assenza, as well as Pepe and Stabile will co-lead seminars ($150/person per seminar); Bottura will lead his own ($250 per person). In each two-hour learning opportunity, the chefs will reveal some of their current favorite culinary techniques. Of course, guests can expect to taste-test every creative dish that’s crafted plus enjoy complementary wine pairings.

Whether an Angeleno chooses to hone his or her cooking skills at one of the seminars, the five-course 2018 Identità Golose Dinner ($275/person) on Saturday evening is an absolute must, to be hosted by beloved chef and culinary personality Lidia Bastianich.

Held at Terra, the rooftop restaurant at Eataly LA, the final meal of this year’s Identità Golose events on the West Coast will be limited to just six seatings.

Chefs Corrado Assenza, Carlo Cracco, Franco Pepe, Marco Stabile and Lello Ravagnan will each present a special course, to be paired with a sommelier-selected wine, on what will no doubt be the most exquisite Italian fine dining experience in the city’s history at least until next year.

In addition to boasting a vast wine selection, Eataly hosts weekly wine tastings and meet-the-producer events
